The Catalina Bird Park, built in 1929, covered 8 acres of land, had more than 8,000 species of exotic birds and the world's largest aviary. The bird images in our series are all reproductions from the Catalina tile murals that decorated walls in the park. These 8x8's are hand painted on Italian quarry tile and kiln fired to 1800 degrees.
